Google Stadia Pricing & Availability Details
The Stadia Connect livestream just ended, and much has been revealed-but, also have some questions/concerns. It launches later this fall, November in 14 countries-US, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. The initial way to get access to the new game streaming service is by purchasing a Founder's Edition pack for $129.99 in the US, other countries' pricing to vary by region detailed on the G-Store. This is the only place Google is selling it.
The Stadia Founder's Edition includes a Chromecast Ultra ($59 by itself), which allows for the 4K/HDR/60 fps gameplay that Google is promising; a limited edition midnight blue controller; a 3-month Stadia Pro subscription, plus a voucher to gift the same sub to a buddy/family member to try out. Lastly, the ability to reserve a Stadia username early that is tied to your Google account.
This Founder's Edition will also come with 'free' access to Destiny 2 Complete Edition, that includes the base game and all it's expansions/content as well as the newest expansion Shadowkeep launching on several platforms this fall. It was revealed that players will be able to transfer characters from the Battle.net PC versions as well as the Xbox One to use on Stadia.
There is a 'free' version called Stadia Base that is 1080p/60 fps with stereo sound launching next year.
As for what games will launch with the new service, they have AAA & indie games such as Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, Baldur's Gate 3, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, The Tomb Raider reboot trilogy, Doom 2016 & Doom Eternal, many more. There are some exclusives that were sown off-Tequila Works' Gylt & Get Packed. It is not known whether these might come to other platforms later as well. They showed a quick sizzle reel of many other notable games coming at some point as well.
They showed off the below image noting what internet connection speeds offer which level of quality to expect:
There's also a 'Test Connection' button below it to allow users to test their internet connection in order to see what level of quality they can expect.
All this info released today sounds interesting, but we will have to wait until later this year to see how good (or bad) the servie will end up being. Hopefully, this will turn out to be a fun new way of playing games on a TV, computer or smart device.
